Brexit : the revenge of Napoleon

Despite all his victories through Europe, Napoleon eventually fell in 1814 then in 1815 because of his incapacity to be made give up England. This enemy created and financed several successive coalitions of the nearby countries of France, which exhausted the war effort of the Empire. To face this threat, Napoleon, having lost his fleet in Trafalgar, had no more than one solution to make bend England: the Continental embargo. This weapon had to deprive the English people of their main resource, worth knowing  :TRADE. Regrettably for him, he never manages, in spite of his armies of customs officers, to enforce by the allied European countries, (Russia, Italy, Netherlands and Spain), the ban to trade with Great Britain. The leaders of these countries closed eyes or encouraged the smuggling. The blockade never worked, England strengthened, and the Empire ran out.
With Brexit, it is Napoleon's revenge because now it is the United Kingdom which decided, voluntarily, to put itself at the mercy of a blockade, this time, perfectly tight: the 50 different types of documents to be submitted to customs for export from the United Kingdom. European single market, so useful to english trade, became an impenetrable fortress of bureaucracy. The small corporal who sleeps in the “Invalides”, this monument in the heart of Paris, will not  stop laughing in his five coffins of tin, mahogany, lead, ebony and porphyre.

You chose the most beautiful routes bef...

Moment clé pour la communauté publique, associative, académique et économique à suivre pour anticiper comment les orientations issues de cette COP pourront impacter les politiques nationales — notamment françaises — en matière de climat, de transition et de justice sociale..
